Did you wake up on Tuesday morning a little forlorn, realising that once again you had spent a whole bank holiday drunk with easter egg all over your chops, with vague memories of great patter but maybe not quite making the most of all that valuable free time? Have no fear! It’s only March, that was a warm up and with a little help from Air BnB you could be living it up on the next one without even having to step foot on a plane. Going abroad to sunnier climes is, no question, a fabulous way to spend some time off, but how much have you explored the bonnie country you call home? Have you followed the whisky trail? Island hopped in the Hebrides? Explored the national parks and mountains that have inspired Scots for centuries? Scotland has a reputation for being home to some seriously friendly folk, so the chance to meet some wonderful Scots and let them show you round their neck of the woods is not to be missed. Read on and take your pick!

1. The Castle

Set in its own gorgeous grounds, this is definitely a classy option for the next weekend away. Escape to the country in style and live the life of leisure on the next bank holiday.

2. The Cabin (with hot tub)

With space for up to six people, this is the ultimate getaway for those who want to explore the surrounding national park and all it has to offer. Enjoy incredible walking routes including the West Highland Way, fishing, fresh water swimming, cycling routes, water activities and then relax in front of a log fire in the evenings.

3. The Luxury Island Lodge

Pristine beaches, the distinctive local whisky, and bird/sea life watching galore. This is the perfect, luxurious base from which to explore the Isle of Islay.

4. The Fairytale Cottage

This gorgeous wee cottage has a traditional thatched roof and peat fires to keep things cosy all year round. A little bit of authentic rural Scotland, surrounded by unspoilt beaches and rugged hills is sure to make for a bank holiday getaway to remember.

5. The Swanky Royal Mile Apartment

A gorgeous option for a fancy wee city break in the capital. Most impressed by the bed nook hidden behind the bookcase – you have the option of pretending you are opening the secret door in a spy film. James Bond (probably) not included.

6. The Artist’s Studio

Presumably most people on here aren’t looking for a ‘staycation’ which consists of staying in Glasgow, but we wanted to represent some of the gorgeous properties on offer in our Dear Green Place, and my goodness it’s a good’un. Get a friend to come visit and book it so you can justify hanging out here for the weekend.

7. River House in the Cairngorms

Open fires, hot tubs and the Nethy Forest on the doorstep just waiting to be explored, as well as the Speyside whisky trail. The perfect way to ‘staycate’ in style.
