The elves have spoken and magic has prevailed. Glasgow WILL have it’s Christmas ice rink after all!
The elves have spoken and magic has prevailed! Glasgow WILL have it’s Christmas ice rink after all! (Grinchesque) Council bosses announced a few months ago that the Christmas favourite would not return to George Square.
But now a private company (sent all the way from Lapland) has confirmed there will be skating at Candleriggs Square in the Merchant City. In true Christmas spirit, behind the scenes, the full team are in the processing of creating a mini winter wonderland, with more facilities than ever before.
Christmas is saved! Celebrate the holiday season this December at the Winter Lodge, right in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre!! Live Event Service (LES) director Thom O’Donnell said: “Skating outdoors is a tradition in Glasgow every Christmas; something that people look forward to and have come to expect year on year.”
The space opens on Saturday, December 3rd and is then open every day from 10am – 10pm except Christmas Day! Relax in their beautiful Winter Lodge which sits alongside, a perfect viewing point for the rink itself and the perfect spot to enjoy a mulled wine!
With multiple sessions running throughout the day you can either book online to secure your place or turn up and join in on the day itself! Full info and booking here.
