March 17th will see the world turn emerald green. (Literally, green lights light up monuments across the globe.)

Glasgow is no different and with plenty of St Patricks Day parties and street celebrations on offer, there’s no excuse not to get out and make the most of our neighbouring country across the water’s national celebration.

Here are 6 of the best St Patrick’s Day parties available in Glasgow.

6. Family Fun Day – Merchant Square Sat 14th, 12pm – 5pm

Last year’s festival in the Merchant Square was attended by more than 6,000 people, expect a busy day of live Irish music, Irish Ceili Dancing, face painting and the nominations for Glasgow Mary of Dungloe competition.

5. Waxy O’Connors – West George Street

One of Glasgow’s best bars is hosting a 12 hour+ celebration on St Patricks Day, with live DJ’s, live music, competitions, and free goodies to giveaway. Part of their St Patrick’s Week Celebration. (Get there early will be heaving.)

4. Jinty McGuinty’s – Ashton Lane

One of West End of Glasgow’s most popular bars, literally jam packed nearly every single night. For 23 years Jinty McGuinty’s has promised a taste of Ireland and expect plenty more on St Patrick’s Day, the walls adorned with Irish poems, literature and pictures add to the feel good factor. Jinty’s will be a “Craic”ing atmosphere this Paddie’s Day.

3. O’Neills – Sauchiehall Street

The best St Patricks Day celebration on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street, brilliant atmosphere, the staff look as if they are having a much fun as the customers and live music, a real St Patrick’s celebration. Make sure you’re in early though O’Neills will fill up rapidly.

1. Malones – Sauchiehall Lane

The place to be in Glasgow. As authentic as visiting a bar in Dublin on Paddie’s Day. Malones promises you the Craic of the Irish right in the heart of Glasgow city centre. Fully licensed street party, live music, multiple taps of Guinness, Irish Jig Dancers, BBQ (risky with Glasgow’s notoriously temperamental weather), face painting and all other Irish delights without the need for a last minute flight.
