Now considered one of most respected in Scotland, Gilded Balloon @ DryGate provides one of the best rosters of comedians both national and international twice a month.
As famous for offering wannabe comedians the chance at performing as they are for watching seasoned performers strut their stuff. Dram on Woodlands Road is a brilliant pub for grabbing a pint and having a laugh. With the pub being relatively intimate ensure you don’t interrupt the comedians or they are likely to gang up and roast you one after the other.
One of Glasgow’s oldest comedy nights is still going strong. The State bar on Sauchiehall Street/Holland Street is perfect is you’re looking for a brilliant comedy night with no fuss. Very intimate settings means that you can literally stare into the whites of the comedians eyes as they attempt to make you laugh. (Although they might pick on you.) Relaxed atmosphere and cheap drinks, makes for one of Glasgow’s hidden gems. Well worth a visit.
An institution in Glasgow, after moving premises from Renfrew Street, many feared for the future of one of Glasgow’s most loved comedy clubs, however Jongleurs were simply moving onto bigger and better things. Finding their feet comfortably under the Mansion House’s table, Jongleurs has again found itself as a premier comedy night across Scotland, welcoming the biggest comedy names in Scotland weekly.
2. Just Comedy @ Wild Cabaret
A relative newcomer on the Glasgow scene, nevertheless Wild Cabaret has cemented its position as one of Glasgow’s top comedy nights. Offering the cream of the comedy circuit from both Scotland and the rest of the world. Just Comedy is a no holds barred comedy experience. Compere Janey Godley takes no prisoners, and everybody in the crowd is a potential pawn in her jokes. It’s a relentlessly hilarious yet terrifying comedy experience. You will laugh.
The undeniable king of comedy in Glasgow. Every comedian with lingering ambitions of success has to face The Stand audience. Regular appearances from Stand Director Frankie Boyle, Kevin Bridges, Dylan Moran and all usually for less than a tenner a ticket. Sarah Millican and Fred Macauley have also performed in front of the iconic cowboy costumed boy brandishing a gun to his head.
