Time for Troon! Glasgow Taxi Outing 2016
Today marks the 71st annual Glasgow Taxi Outing – an event which is the result of lots of hard work and brings joy to many! Since 1945, Glasgow Taxi drivers have fundraised in order to provide a day out to the seaside for disabled children, who may normally not be able to get there. Not only this, but all the stops are pulled out to ensure a memorable day for everyone involved. Many drivers dress up, as well as the people who stand out to watch the taxis parade past in all their splendour – the decorated taxis will have been up early this morning to get their gladrags on an ready for the big event!
After making their way out of Glasgow, the parade heads on to Troon where the fun is just getting started. The town is decorated to welcome the visitors, and there will be sweeties and fun galore. Fingers are crossed that the rain will hold off from 1pm today, but the town hall will also be available to ensure that everyone stays dry!
If you were unable to take part in today’s celebrations, there’s still time to check out what’s going on. The local computer repair shop, Computroon, will be running a live stream from 1pm (link below), and you can keep up with all the news on the Facebook page. We’ve included a few posts to get you in the spirit of the excitement of the day – make sure that you share it and get the word out about this fantastic annual event!
