11 Places You Must Go For A Curry in Glasgow (July 2016)
There’s nothing like a Glasgow ‘summer’ to get you in the mood for a spicy curry and a pint of Cobra. We’ve compiled the favourites amongst the Glasgow Living team, ranging in styles from Indian, Nepalese, Pakistani, Persian, and more. Whether you prefer treating yourself to a takeaway, or getting dressed up for dinner, there’ll be some place here you fancy that you haven’t tried yet. Enjoy!
11. Wild Cabaret
Perhaps not the most obvious choice for a curry, but on a Thursday night, this is the place to be. Having indulged in one of their weekly curry and comedy nights, we can confirm that the food is top notch and the bonus is you’ll be up for dinner and a show!
Balbir’s are back on the scene after closing for refurbishment, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the place! Lunchtime service resumes today (12th July) and a little birdy says that the new restaurant features a cocktail bar. Curry and cocktails sound like a match made in heaven.
With four restaurants across the city, the great food and friendly service has proved to be a winning combination. They’ve been at the top of their game since 1973 and show no signs of slowing down!
This wee gem is well known in Giffnock, but we think it’s time that more people got the chance to savour the unique Nepalese dishes on offer.
These guys are relative newbies on the Southside scene, having recently celebrated their second birthday. Traditional style foods made fresh, and a particularly tempting pre-theatre menu set them apart from the crowd, and they are becoming an establishment in the area.
,We love the tapas set up of the restaurant – no more curry fomo as you can order several small dishes to share. They have a dedicated veggie menu, and plenty for carnivores, too. Personal recommendations? The aubergine pakora and the enormous peshwari naans 👌.
5. Mother India
The restaurant is a West end establishment and the café is queued out the door most evenings. Always reliable for a delicious meal.
Currently well-deserved in the number one spot on TripAdvisor, the fresh food and wonderful surroundings at Obsession are charmingly difficult to resist. We popped them in here at 4 because the order doesn’t really matter, you just need to make sure you try all of these curry spots.
Like a few of the others on this list, the Wee Curry Shop (Ashton Lane and Buccleuch Street) is BYOB and the cosy surroundings and delicious meals mean many an hour can be wiled away.
2. The Dhabba
The prestigious Merchant City location and sleek interiors make this a great dinner option any night of the week. If the surroundings don’t enthral you, then the food certainly will.
An exciting array of Persian and Indian cuisine, presented in friendly, comfy surroundings. If you’ve not been already, get yourself down for a dreamy dinner. Enjoy!
