Glasgow – A Healthy Weekend…
Our city has a bad rep for being unhealthy, unfit and lovers of lard but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Glasgow is full to the brim with a variety of healthy option cafes, DOMS lovers and fitness (physical and mental) fanatics and our fair city are most definitely fighting back against the stereotype that has shaped us (literally) worldwide.
All you need to do is hop online, Instagram mainly, and you will find an abundance of inspiring people to follow. Here is our selection of inspiring Scots who are bringing healthy back! Linsey Reith of Chefarella and 1/3 of Three Sisters Bakes describes herself as a “Clean Food Concoctionist” but I think she is nothing short of miracle worker. Creator of beautiful food that is healthy and tasty, Linsey brings inspiring recipes to a public space giving ideas to all who follow and encouraging a healthier way of life.

We’re all fond of a food festival these days but we now have our very own Glasgow Vegan Festival happening in the beautiful Trades Hall on the 11th and 12th of November. With over 50 stalls each day, 8 world food caterers, all day talks and cookery demos: you would be mad to miss this tasty event. Tickets are £3 payable on the day at the door or £13 to include fast-track entry and a goody bag full of products, samples, discounts and more.
Which leads us to here: exercise!
The city is bursting with gyms to suit all budgets, excellent PTs firing out amazing results as well as free classes through Glasgow Life.
If you are looking for something a little different: be it bootcamp in a nightclub, boxing and spin at a quirky West End studio or netball in your local club, there is no doubt you will find something fun to push you to your limits and make you forget you are exercising at all.
As if this wasn’t enough, there are the regular one-off events happening in the city such as the Galeforce Movement and Fitness Pop Up Intensive on the 12th November which is an amazing 4-hour session to kick start your fitness and get to the next level! Train hard and then relax and enjoy some a nutritious meal to keep you going. There will be weight training, pilates, cardio, yoga and even meditation, you can book your tickets HERE.
But what about your mind? It’s all very well having a strong, well-nourished body if your head is not where it should be.
