One of Glasgow’s best steaks is the perfect night out

It’s the time of the month when you’re unsure if you can afford that date night you pre-planned, worry not, Glasgow Living has you covered.

If you’re yet to discover this hidden gem, then you’re in for a real treat. FF Westend, the sister bar and restaurant to the Finsbay in Milngavie, is perhaps one of the trendiest steak restaurants that Glasgow has to offer.

FF Westend, standing for Finsbay Flatiron, specialises in flat iron steaks… moreover, we don’t use the terms specialises lightly. The flat iron steak is all they have to offer as a main on their menu, ok you’ll see the odd special of burgers or a traditional Sunday roast, but the flat iron steak is their staple.

Monday to Thursday you can pick up an FF flat iron for just £8. Yup, just £8. Perfectly cooked steak by top-class chefs for just £8. Friday to Sunday it’ll cost you more though, but only £2 more.

Their menu comes to life with their choice of sides and sauces; parmesan, hollandaise and double-dip hand-cut chips are worth a shout, along with the Mac & Stornoway Black Pudding Haggis Bon Bons and a peppercorn sauce.

The food isn’t the only significant aspect of this budget date night; their cute and cosy restaurant/bar is full of character. The decor of stripped walls, pale wood and bright white furniture is classy, clean and comfortable – when coupled with their warm glow lights, it makes a romantic setting on a budget for sure.

Once you’ve either completed or been defeated by their incredible food, you can relax in on the comfortable chairs and sofas at the entrance while you enjoy some reasonably priced Westend cocktails to finish of your evening.

Date night on a budget has never been so easy. If you visit them and share your experience on social media, use the tag #GlasgowLivingSentMe so we can see your pictures.
